The gorge features spectacular geology and offers an easy, relatively flat route. It has been a Nature Reserve since 1987 and forms part of the Natura 2000 network.

This short out-and-back trail connects directly to the Foz de Lumbier. The route suits all visitors as it remains completely flat and follows an easy track. The Foz de Lumbier is a gorge carved by the Irati River at the western end of the Sierra de Leire, nestled between limestone walls. The river enters and exits the gorge through narrow canyons only a few meters wide. Spectacular geology and centuries of isolation in these inaccessible corners preserve exceptional natural values. It has been a Nature Reserve (40 ha) since 1987 and is one of the 42 SCIs in Navarre within the Natura 2000 network.
